01 Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Gourab Das (“we”, “us”, “our”, or “developer”) handles information in connection with the Android application Sonicwave (the “App”).
We designed Sonicwave so that we do not need personal data to provide the service. This Policy is intended to be transparent for users worldwide and to align with the principles of major data-protection laws, even where those laws do not require a formal privacy notice because no personal data is processed by us.
By installing or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
02 Who We Are
For privacy laws that use the concept of a “controller”, “business”, or “data fiduciary”, the party responsible for this Policy and the App is:
Gourab Das
Email: gourabdas.13@gmail.com
Because the App does not collect personal data on our systems, we generally do not act as a processor/service provider for your personal information in connection with App usage. If that ever changes, this Policy will be updated first.
03 Information We Collect
We do not collect personal data through the App. In particular, the App does not gather, request, or receive any of the following for transmission to us:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, or other contact details
- Account credentials, profiles, or authentication tokens issued by us
- Precise or approximate location data
- Advertising IDs, persistent device identifiers used for tracking, or similar cross-app trackers
- Usage analytics, behavioral profiles, heatmaps, or marketing attribution data
- Crash reports, diagnostics, or telemetry sent to us or to analytics vendors
- Payment, billing, or financial information
- Contacts, SMS/messages, photos, camera, microphone audio, or other personal content for off-device use
- Sensitive personal data (health, biometrics, political opinions, etc.)
Because we do not collect personal data via the App, we also do not sell, rent, share, license, or otherwise disclose personal information to third parties for advertising, analytics, or commercial purposes.
04 How the App Works
Sonicwave is designed to play audio files that already exist on your device. Playback, playlists, equalizer settings, and related features run locally. The App does not require sign-in and does not connect to developer-operated backend services that receive your personal data.
Offline by design
Core music playback works without an internet connection. No cloud account is required.
No trackers
No advertising networks, analytics suites, or social SDKs are embedded for tracking you.
On-device only
Preferences and playlists stay on your phone or tablet under your control.
05 Device Permissions
The App may request Android permissions solely to provide local music playback. Examples include:
- Media / storage / audio access — to read audio files on your device so they can be listed and played
- Notifications (if applicable) — to show media playback controls while music is playing
- Foreground service (if applicable) — to keep playback running reliably in the background
These permissions are used only on your device for App functionality. Granting a permission does not mean we collect or upload the underlying content. You can manage permissions in your device settings at any time; denying optional permissions may limit related features.
06 Local Data Storage & Retention
Any preferences, playlists, queue state, or playback-related settings created in the App are stored locally on your device. This information stays on your phone or tablet and is not transmitted to us.
Retention
Because we do not hold personal data about you on our systems, we have no server-side retention period for App user data. Local App data typically remains until you clear app data, uninstall the App, or delete it yourself (subject to how Android and your device handle residual files).
Music files that belong to you remain under your control in device storage and are not “our” data.
Deletion
You can delete local App data by clearing storage in Android settings or uninstalling Sonicwave. If you believe we somehow obtained personal data about you outside the App (for example, via email), contact us and we will delete correspondence we control where appropriate and legally permitted.
07 Third-Party Services & International Transfers
The App does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, authentication, cloud sync, or payment services that would send your personal data to external providers on our behalf.
This website (Privacy Policy page)
If you open this Privacy Policy in a browser, your browser, network, or hosting provider may process standard technical logs (for example IP address, user-agent, and request metadata) independently of the App. That web hosting activity is separate from App usage and does not change the App’s offline, no-collection design.
International transfers
We do not transfer personal data collected through the App across borders because we do not collect such data. If you email us, your message will be processed using the email provider and systems we use to read correspondence; use email only for information you are comfortable sending.
08 Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws. Because we do not collect personal data through the App, many of these rights will have limited practical application for App usage. We still respect them and will help where we can.
Request confirmation whether we process personal data about you and, if so, receive a copy. For App usage: we hold none on our systems.
Request correction of inaccurate personal data we hold. Local App settings can be changed by you on-device.
Request deletion of personal data we hold. Clear App data or uninstall for local data; email us for correspondence.
Receive personal data you provided in a structured, commonly used format where applicable. Not applicable to non-collected App data.
Object to or restrict certain processing where the law provides that right. We do not run App-based profiling or marketing processing.
Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time. App permissions can be revoked in system settings.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are commonly defined (see Section 12).
We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights available under applicable law.
To exercise a right, email gourabdas.13@gmail.com. We may need to verify your request is legitimate. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (for example, typically one month under GDPR where it applies, or 45 days under CCPA/CPRA where it applies, subject to permitted extensions).
09 Global & Regional Notices
The following summaries explain how this Policy maps to major privacy regimes. They do not create rights beyond those provided by law, and they do not change the App’s no-collection design.
GDPR
We do not process personal data of users via the App as a controller. If personal data is processed through email contact, the legal basis is typically legitimate interests (responding to inquiries) or consent where required. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
UK GDPR & DPA 2018
Same principles as EU GDPR for App usage (no collection). Contact the ICO if you wish to complain about our handling of any personal data we actually hold (e.g., email).
CCPA / CPRA
We do not “sell” or “share” personal information, and we do not collect personal information categories through the App for business or commercial purposes. “Do Not Sell or Share” is addressed in Section 12. Authorized agents may contact us by email.
State privacy laws
Similar consumer rights (access, delete, correct, opt-out of targeted advertising/sale) exist in several US states. Because we do not collect App personal data or run targeted ads, these requests typically confirm a null result for App data.
LGPD
We do not process personal data through the App as a controller. Data subject rights under LGPD (access, correction, anonymization, deletion, portability, information about sharing) can be exercised by email for any data we may hold outside the App.
PIPEDA & provincial laws
We do not collect personal information through the App for commercial activity. Questions about our privacy practices can be sent to the contact email above.
DPDP Act, 2023
We do not process personal data of individuals through the App as a Data Fiduciary. For any personal data provided voluntarily by email, you may request correction, erasure, or withdrawal of consent where applicable by contacting us.
APPI, PDPA & similar
Laws such as Japan’s APPI and various PDPA regimes emphasize purpose limitation, security, and individual rights. Our offline, no-collection model is intended to minimize processing and cross-border transfer risk.
10 Children’s Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 in the United States (COPPA), under 16 where GDPR’s digital consent age applies (or the lower age set by an EU Member State, not below 13), or under the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction.
Because we do not collect personal data through the App, we do not use the App to build profiles of children or adults, and we do not condition participation on providing personal information.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it from systems we control.
11 Security
Since we do not collect or transmit personal data through the App, there is no developer-side database of your personal information for this product.
Local data on your device remains subject to your device security settings (screen lock, encryption, OS updates, app permissions, and similar protections you control). We encourage keeping Android and Sonicwave updated when updates are available.
No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. If you contact us by email, standard email security limitations apply.
12 Do Not Sell or Share Personal Information
We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are used under the CCPA/CPRA and similar laws).
We do not use the App to engage in targeted advertising, cross-app tracking, or data brokering. Therefore, an opt-out signal is not required for App functionality; there is no sale or sharing to opt out of for App-collected data.
If you still wish to submit a “Do Not Sell or Share” request for completeness, email us. We will confirm our practices and address any personal information we actually hold (for example, email correspondence).
13 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time—for example if App features change, if laws evolve, or if our contact details change. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” at the top of this page.
Material changes that introduce personal-data collection will be described clearly in this Policy before or when such features become available. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy to the extent permitted by law.
We recommend checking this page periodically. You can always find the latest version at this URL.
14 Contact & Complaints
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, the App’s privacy practices, or wish to exercise a privacy right, contact:
